الماضي البسيط
Simple past
Form: Verb + ed or (irregular verbs )
بالنسبة للأفعال الغير منتظمة سنتحدث عنها لاحقا

الأفعال المكتملة في الماضي
بمعنى انه يصف الأفعال التي بدأت وانتهت في وقت معين في الماضي
أحيانا لا يذكر المتحدث الوقت المحدد لانتهاء الحدث ولكن يكون هناك وقت محدد في الماضي . أمثلة :-
• I saw a movie yesterday.
• I didn't see a play yesterday.
• Last year, I traveled to Egypt.
• Last year, I didn't travel to Lebanon
• Mohamed Washed his car

مجموعة من الأفعال المكتملة معا
بمعنى أننا نستخدم الماضي البسيط للتعبير عن مجموعة من الأفعال المكتملة في الماضي وهذه الأفعال تكون مدرجة بمعنى واحد واثنان وثلاثة وأربعة

• I finished work, walked to the beach, and found a nice place to swim.
• He arrived from the airport at 8:00, checked into the hotel at 9:00, and met his friends at 10:00.
• Did you add flour, pour in the milk, and then add the eggs?

أمد في الماضي
بمعنى انه يعبر عن وقت في الماضي بدأ وانتهى في زمن الماضي ولكنه حدث طويل الأمد غالبا ما يحوي تعبيرا ما ك منذ سنتين ، قبل عشر سنوات .. الخ
• I lived in Iraq for two years.
• Maisa studied Italian for five years.
• They sat at the beach all day.
• They did not stay at the party the entire time.
• We talked on the phone for thirty minutes.

عادة ما في الماضي
بمعنى أننا نستخدم هذا الزمن للتعبير عن عادة ما كنا نفعلها بالماضي ولكننا توقفنا عنها في وقتنا الحالي
يمكن أيضا نستخدم في اغلب الأحيان كلمة used to
ويوجد بعض الكلمات الأخرى نستخدمها لتدل على ذلك مثل
always, often, usually, never, when I was a child, when I was younger, etc.
أمثلة للتوضيح :-
• I studied German when I was a child.
• He played the violin.
• He didn't play the piano.
• Did you play a musical instrument when you were a kid?
• She worked at the movie theater after school.
• They never went to school, they always skipped class.

حقائق حدثت في الماضي
نستخدم الماضي البسيط للتعبير عن حقائق حدثت في الماضي وأحيانا نستخدم معها used to كما استخدمناها بالأعلى
أمثلة للتوضيح :
• She was shy as a child, but now she is very outgoing.
• He didn't like tomatoes before.
• Did you live in Texas when you were a kid?
• People paid much more to make cell phone calls in the past.
